``Privacy Comes First`` for Adam and Eve
commercial - comedy - micro-short
ROLES: WRITER, DIRECTOR, EDITOR
A typical day in the neighborhood goes wrong when a young woman's package delivery exposes her intimate secret. This vibrator commercial was a spec-spot for the brand ``Adam and Eve`` that highlights the importance of discreet packaging, making sex toys casual again, and choosing the right brand for you.
This project was pitched by Monica Matute and was a winner for the Commercial & Branded Content course for Winter Quarter 2022! ``Privacy Comes First`` was fully funded by the Savannah College of Art and Design Awards Department with a total budget of $2,000. In order to have a place in the festival world, this spec-spot was also shot with an alternate ending to be made a micro-short comedy film. The short film has a total run time of 01:52.
TRT: 01:52.

THE INSPIRATION
When arriving home from class one day, I brought in my roommates Amazon package. Little did I know, the label would expose her vibrator purchase.
On a late cereal-for-dinner type of night during my winter break, a random idea came to me for a vibrator commercial. I actually laughed to myself and proceeded with my night. I put the idea at the back of my mind as I knew, eventually, it would see the light of day as a scene in a future film piece. Fast forward a few weeks later, at the start of my commercial and branded content class, we were told we would have a pitching competition where students pitched an original idea for a spec-spot. The winners would have their project fully funded by the school. I instantly raised my hand and asked if anything was off limits- spoiler alert, sex toys weren't.
If you've ever listened to the podcast ``Call Her Daddy`` then you might've heard the infamous Adam and Eve commercials and how much they pride themselves in their discreet packaging. I knew this would be the brand I chose for my pitch. As someone who is passionate about open and healthy conversations about sex and self care, I felt called to make a piece that normalized excitement and interest towards sex toys. The commercial also shows a young woman, alone. Having a young woman be the focal point in this story felt important to me because I wanted to show a subtle emphasis on the importance of adult toys and the positive impact they can have on self care.
I wanted to make a piece that was funny, chaotic, and unpredictable to highlight the importance of choosing a brand that will respect your privacy and also fulfill your needs.
